Bonjour mes amis
I am glad to see a positive reaction to consideration of the artwork of Roy Cross.
Greg, that image of the DeHaviland D.H.4 is one of the great pieces produced by the artist ... to sell the model kits an element of the 'Boy's Own' attitude was required, and certainly the excitement is evident, but, the essential being of the aircraft is in no way compromised.
Note that the cover of the book by Chaz Bowyer is by a Turner, but not Michael the father, but, Graham the son, who apparently concentrates on motor sport and historical art.
That cover of the Manfred von Richthofen book is unbelievable, literally ... surprising to see that an Australian edition shows the Fokker Dr.I falling to a Sopwith Camel ... maybe Russ has some detail to support that ...
Salut!
Kirk

Fokkers With Stripes
Bonjour mes amis!
How about Fokkers with stripes? I hope these have not already appeared ... the thread is now so vast one hesitates to look through from the first page. So, here we have two to consider, presented, not in combat, but simply in the element ...
A classic cover for a classic book: "Leutnant Kirschstein's Fokker DrI 586/17" by Joe Michie on The Fokker Triplane by Alex Imrie published by Arms And Armour in 1992.
A striking cover for a great book depicting a Fokker D.VII flown br Brono Lörzer by Horst Löbner on Eisernes Kreuz und Balken Kreuz by Heinz J. Nowarra published by Verlag Dieter Hoffmann in 1968.
Salut!
Kirk

Kirk:
The Fokker Triplane by Alex Imrie is the Triplane bible.... If you have this book it's worth every penny.

Bonjour Lloyd!
Yes, a great work. When my father bought The Fokker Triplane by Imrie I thought 'small ...', but, as you will know, the volume is actually large. A valued treasure.
Salut!

Scout By Schaedel
Bonjour mes amis!
Just one of the many aviation publications released by Kookaburra Technical Publications, ALBATROS Scouts Described by Charles Schaedel features the a painting by the author of Albatros D.Va 5390/17 piloted by Clauss of Jasta 29 prior to being captured as a result of combat with an R.E.8 flown by J.L. Sandy and H.F. Hughes of 3 Squadron A.F.C on the 17th of December, 1917.
Salut!
Kirk
