Don't mean to but in here, but I was looking through my dad's old magazines and came across this Popular Aviation from 1937. The Artist is a Herman Bullins or Bollins.

Dear Sobrien,
You're not butting in at all! The more the merrier..
I love the old pulp covers! Do you have any more with WWI aircraft?
Greg

This was the only WWI cover that isn't in pieces. My dad has given me what is left of his Flying Aces, Popular Aviation, Air Trails, and Model Airplane News from the 30's, about 60 magazines in all. They range from 1933 to 1938, no complete years. Some of the collection was lost in a basement flood years ago.
It's from them that my interest in WWI aviation comes.

One Spring in Picardy
by ex Lancaster bomber pilot William Stanley has a rather nice action painting of FE2Bs at night. Unfortunately the artist is not credited. The picture stretches over the front and back cover. This is my first attempt at uploading a picture so fingers crossed and here goes.

Two covers of magazines.
The first one is from Avions. The cover shows Henri de Slade (Spa 159) in combat with a Fokker DVII in the summer of 1918.
Cover by Lionel Labeyrie.
The second one is the cover of the Biggles News magazine.
Cover by Howard Leigh.

Hi Greg,
Thanks for those kind words. I accidentally dropped in on this site and the first thread I found was this one and was very surprised to see my artwork.
By way of clarification, I have retired from doing Osprey covers but I still paint.
Of all the periods that I painted for Osprey, it was the WW1 artwork that gave me the most pleasure. Although my main interest is WW2, the biplanes of this period somehow got under my skin and I would have continued doing them but I couldn't really cherrypick only those I was interested in painting, so it was all or nothing.
