A couple with unknown artists
I found some more gilt embossings of birds of prey and squadron insignia on book covers recently. Took pics, just need to get them uploaded.

DOGFIGHT DIXON, thriller picture library
Peter's posting served to raise my curiosty and so here is the result of an internet search of several comic book websites in the UK: apparently Flt Ltn Dixon( guessing his rank) graced a bevy of comic book stories from the late 1950's to 1960's , some of the cover art is very nice in my opinion: the cost of these titles though seem a bit high to me, with some going into the 35-50 dollars range:

It is O.K. with *.jpg files (first two of the post 438186), probably does not work with *.bmp .

Yavor, in the Sentence you quoted in German it says "Vilette" is the author of the painting. On the small photo it is Edmund Rumpler with a model of Ru-98 Transocean Flying Boat.

Thank you, Kilian!
I was not confident is it name, nickname or something else, e.g. magazine. Any further information about Vilette?
Regards,
Yavor
P.S. The book is very good, by the way, at least by first glance!

Italian Aces of World War I
Hi,
I'm thrilled to be able to post this new image (from Osprey's website) of the REAL cover of Paolo Varriale's forthcoming book on Italian Aces of WWI. It looks terrific!

The cover artist is, I believe, Mark Postlethwaite as usual. According to Osprey's website, this will be published in August. Great news! This will be a terrific book!
Here's the link:

Pusher Aces of WWI
Here is another stunning painting by Mark Postlethwaite, this one for the highly-anticipated "Pusher Aces of WWI" by the very hard-working and prolific Jon Guttman. Since it's now up on Osprey's website, I hope they won't mind this bit of free publicity:
Should be out sometime in July!
