More British books from the Golden Age

I believe this fiction by W.E. Johns involves a Capt. Lovell and his observer. Love the red Hannover!

The illustrator of this book is said to be Geoffrey Watson.

"Boyd Cable" was a pseudonym for Ernest Andrew Ewart. This is a collection of 18 fictionalized stories based on actual events.

New input

Thank you for this latest look at your great collections. Really appreciate the fine education in the golden age of illustration and books. Never realized this genre was so vast in scope. Truly enlightening. Grateful thanks again. Super; FM

Here's one from my dad's magazine collection. I don't know the artist, but here's a cover from 1932. Sorry for the spots, my dad must have gotten some paint on it while building a model.

Thanks for posting that, Sobrien! Great cover! It looks like the artist's name might be signed in the lower left hand corner - and it's often listed on the table of contents page too.

Don't worry about the paint spots. They just add more character and history to the magazine!

Hello,

A Russian translation of Double Decker C666 by Hauptmann Heydemarck.

The cover was made by Sergey Pozharskiy. It seems that only 5000 copies were made.

More Jo Kotula MAN covers

Hi Jastaflieger,

Nice pix. More by Howard Leigh, I see.

1964 was a very good year for WWI topics on the cover of Model Airplane News, being the 50th anniversary of the start of the war. Makes me wonder what 2014 will bring?

You gotta love Kotula's psychedelic skies!

Here's one from 1970:
