Hi Yavor,

The artist who rendered the cover painting for Black Cat Squadron is British artist Michael Turner, whose work has been featured here frequently. You can see his distinctive signature in the lower corner.

Thank you, Gregvan!
By the way, can someone post couple of words about the book? One reviewer describes it as a good and quick read but I am not able to find much more. Going through the lists of titles before I always associated 'Black Cat' with PBY flying boats
Regards,
Yavor

Hi,

Yavor, I've never read Black Cat Squadron so I cannot comment. I understand it's a fictional account of night-bombing in H-P's.

I don't believe anyone has posted this fine cover from Avions magazine before. This is a beautiful magazine, superbly produced, and this one has a terrific article on Jan Olieslagers, the "Antwerp Devil".

Some time later the same magazine featured a two-part article on Hermann Goering, a devil of another sort. Issue No. 144 featured the first article, which covered his WWI career.

The cover artist, as always, is Lionel Labeyrie.

Thank you, Gregvan!
I agree, AVIONS is a very good magazine, particularly for obscure French aeroplanes of 1920s and 1930s. "As 14/18" and "Pionniers" departments are usually good too but, like many other magazines, fill only small part of the volume.
Regards,
Yavor

Here's a cover from Aviation History featuring Baracca's Spad. The artist is Loren Chantland:

Here's another issue of the same magazine, featuring MvR's Fokker Dr.I. The artist is David Poole.

I'm starting to feel bad about not posting any pictures, so ...

How about the original 90th Aero Squadron book - the "pair of dice" are nice

And an unknown artist
