Finally, two for the younger crowd
One of these two books contain page after page of the work of one of the greatest aviation artists of our time:: even though it is a "juvenile book" , the book is well worth every penny spent in my opinion because of the artists work in the book:: so, any aerodromite know which book i am referring to, an dwhich artist i am talking about?

I believe you're referring to Michael Turner who illustrated Pilots of World War 1, a 1978 MacDonald Educational book.

Fanatique Aviation
These came from some old numbers of Le Fanatique de l'Aviation, the forebear of the french magazine Le Fana de l'Aviation ... (captions in loose translation). If there's interest I can post some more...
88 (1977):
- artist: Paul Lengellé
- caption: The bombs fall in London in the 1917 winter. The sinister Gotha G.V fly in the darkness
101 (1978):
- artist: Bechenec
- caption: 1918, Palestine. The australians fight the Albatros that fly cover for the turks. A forgoten war...
139 (1981):
- artist: Paul Lengellé
- caption: The ace Jean Navarre captures a german biplace over the lines, with his usual daring
169 (1983):
- artist: Serge Jamois
- caption: A scene from the Russian-Polonese conflict in 1919. The markings are correct but the combat is fancied!
68 (1975):
- artist: ? (not signed and doesn't mention inside)
- caption: 1918, a dogfight between the Spads XIII from the escadrille 85 and Albatross

Great stuff, Ricardo!
Thanks so much for posting those great covers! I've always loved Paul Lengellé's work.
By all means, please continue posting!

more of Fana de l'Aviation...
I've noticed that WWI isn't the main theme in Fana covers... these are the only ones left. I don't have a full collection but the main theme is WWII. From Paul Lengellé's work there are also some very nice covers of the Schneider Cup (but that would go off topic no?)
so...
n 150
artist: Paul Lengellé
caption: the giant bombers from Sykorsky
n 17
artist: Paul Lengellé
caption: test of the giant flyingboat Dornier Rs-1 at Lake Constance, 1915
n 226
sorry, I don't have the mag with me and the cover isn't signed. but it seems Ranh's Fokker DR 1 being pursuited by Sopwith Camel ?

Thanks for those images, Ricardo.
Here's a portrait with some interesting background - I can't read the artist name
Another John T. McCoy

Are you and or Mike going to ORA for the artist weekend on the 26-27?
|
Nope. Once the dopes and mopes and flown the coop at ORA, I'll resurrect this weekend.
The current crowd of defectives running the facility did not know I organized this for 9 years running and did not contact either me or ASAA to participate in their so-called "artists weekend". I've taken back the three paintings I had on more or less permanent loan to them and have rescinded my offer to produce a painting for raffle - for their benefit - which was a part of the artists weekend events when I ran it.
Another in a series of questionable decisions by the management team current in place.
On a brighter note - we've changed venues for the weekend and are now happily hosted by the fine folks at Golden Age Air Museum in Bethel, Pa.
Be sure to visit their website Golden Age Air Museum - Early Days Of Aviation
They have a nice colleciton of WW I and Golden Era aricraft, run a fun and edcational airshow - coming up this weekend in fact - and are professionally and competently run by Paul Dougherty Sr & Jr. Nice people who are building a great flying museum....BTW, they get the raffle painting - this year an framed 8 x 10" of their 1930 Great Lakes doing it's thing....
Now, back to the real reason for this thread !
Mike
