The triplane cover- interesting. It's not a painting of a Fokker Triplane- it's a painting of a U-control model. Check the engine and exhaust arrangement and the two control leads coming out of its right side!

Not sure if any of these have come up before, but, in the 1960's I subscribed to the 'Air Ace Picture Library'. Dog Fight Dixon was one of many heroic pilots in these small, b&w, booklets. Very British.

John

Robert,

You're right. I remember reading that the cover was a painting of a model competition. You can also see that the cars in the picture are obviously incorrect for the piece to be presented as a WWI representation. I should have noted that on the post.

It's kind of cool! It adds a little twist to reality!

Bonjour mes amis!

Here are a couple of works from covers of Model Aircraft by John L. Palmer representing a less renown type and a very famous type -

The Armstrong Whitworth F.K.3 (with what may be a fictitious serial), Model Aircraft, December 1963.

The Bristol Fighter of McKeever and Powell, 11 Squadron in action, Model Aircraft, December 1965.

Salut!
Kirk

Must post ... another.

RAF Yearbook 1978. Artist unknown. Nice Bristols, though.
