Albatros D.III - WW.I Aviation Art
Here's a WWI project i wish to share here and get some great feedback towards. It's an Albatros D.III. Eventually, she'll be usd in a multitude if high relsolution print projects.
I'm also looking for any references anyone might have. I've got the Windsock Data file but am always looking for better more details references.
Anyways,. . . here's some progress shots.
Take a look and see what you guys think. . . .

Hi David
nice to see you here.
D3 is looking good as far as i can see.
only thing that stands out as a little odd is that sharp corner on the end of the prop.
props CAN be a bit of a pain
the MG looks particularly accurate.
as for refs...
make sure you look at everything Koloman Mayrhofer has posted
http://http://www.theaerodrome.com/f...-iii-news.html
great stuff
looking forward to seeing some textures

Mate,
looks good. If you a mind how about painting one with Jasta 10 colors and for personnel recognition color's of lime green.
If it turns out real good, perhaps I could use it in my Upcoming Werner Voss book.
thanks in advance - no pressure.

Sure,. . . i'd be happy to!
Mostly looking forward to all the wonderful paint schemes that the Germans had, epspecially the Albatros's. The lent themselves to be great moving pieces of flying art!
Shoot me an email sometime with what you would need.
Thanks!

The images look really impressive. It seems as though it takes you no effort at all but Im sure that is not the case...
Will you be able to move the control surfaces (Ailerions, elevators, rudder)? Because even in a beautiful flying setting with moving prop and sky and battleground, the plane will still look static with all surfaces set to neutral. that is especially true for rotary-engined birds, such as the Nieuport.
On that note, will your backgrounds also include Trenched and shelled surfaces, bombed railways and so on? All those battle sequences with idyllic country pastures in the background look a bit phony to me.
Please keep us updated on your progress!
have a good day,
Sijko
