You guys may have noticed that my signature contains "Once Upon A Time.......
storyboard dioramas. This is my little tribute to the great film artist Sergio Leone.
His western "Once Upon A Time In The West" is recognized by most as the best western ever made and probably one of the top 100 films ever.
I love his attention to detail combined with majestic landscapes. His use of closeups and facial expression to create a mood. His minimalist approach to dialogue, only 15 pages of dialogue in a three and a half hour movie yet he still gets his story across magnificently .His use of music and the fact that a special theme was developed for each of the central characters ,which was played on set while that characters scene was being filmed.
I guess what I am trying to say is that he was a master of telling a grand story in a wonderful new way.
I think he would have loved storyboard dioramas. Thanks for the inspiration Sergio!
Cheers! John.

Sergio Leone, what an artist he was. Love his films. He revolutionized cinematography. He had a pretty low budget to work with and thus had to convey what he wanted to say with details and clever camera work.
The low ground shots of gunmens legs with their opponents framed between them is just one of the compositional masterpieces that soon became standard. Close up shots of flies, grinning teeth and the use of unknown actors who had the perfect face for the role was just not the done thing in Hollywood at that time. As for the music its still in a league of its own. Superb and I can see the influence in your work in the detail and charactor of each story. Your photography has some very strong elements too, especialy the one entitled "Once upon a time" the room shot from low level framed by the open doors, very Sergio. I love the lighting too. Your a true pro. I carnt wait to see more.

Cheers Terry

This is a very thought provoking image. What is going to happen tomorrow?
I would love to know the story behind this one or do you prefer the viewer to make their own minds up? Either way I think all your work is fascinating, I just carnt stop looking.
Cheers Terry

Thumbs up

Hi Terry! I love doing this stuff, even more than the modeling itself.Digital photography is great thing for me as I just play around until I get an image I like.I would be broke now if I had to use film and even the batteries I use are re-chargeable.
The storyline is up to the viewer,I just like to provide little guide posts along the way and let the viewers imagination fill in the rest.
