2 new SE5a pieces
These two pieces depict 3 SE5a of No. 1 Sq RAF, but they are actually variations of photos that I took at Masterton, NZ a few weeks back. I changed the color scheme from the original photos, enlarged the SE's a bit and added some atmospheric perspective. I didn't bother trying to compensate for correct linear perspective. I just wanted to paint some pretty SE's without having to jump through all of the usual hoops. I picture them hanging together so that the SE's face each other.

Still super
Russ -
These are just as attractive now as when you showed them to me still wet with paint.
Beautiful and atmospheric, great lighting.
For any of the artists out there this reinforces the axiom - "Don't try to do with color what you should do with value". These two have virtually no color discontinuity - almost monochrome, but look what a little emphasis on value (and edge control) can do....
Nicely done Russ...
Mike

Thanks Mike. That's a good quote. I've never heard that one before, but I've certainly tried to practice it.

Mate,
Pretty cool, if I do say so myself.
You almost feel like a ghost figure, floating among the clouds, and watching them come and then fly past. Just Grand!
Love your artwork, you surly have the touch.
Great work - Keep it coming!

One of the things I admire most about your art is that the aeroplanes are in their "element." The air has a tangible quality.

Thanks so much, guys! I guess I should let everyone know that they are available. To be honest, having actually experienced these "moments", there is a part of me that would kind of like to hold on to them and hang them on my own wall. Gotta pay the bills, though, so hopefully they'll go to a kind and loving home.

That's 'cause I just made it up

Funny what occurs to you when you are struggling to put a painting together....
Anyone who hesitates to snatch either of these up may miss their opportunity... don;t be slow on the trigger gentlemen, I have wall space to fill.
