Russ Smith Aviation Art Book!!

Could not decide where to announce this one, here or in the book section, but decided here. As i announced during my talk at the recent OTF seminar, work has begun and the goal is to have Tumult in the Clouds published by sometime next spring. The cover is attached to attract your interest. Alan Roessler is editing and publishing this book which will have approx 35 of Russ's paintings included in a landscape style/size book.
Not only that:: in addition to Russ's superb artwork there is an ALL-STAR cast of contributing authors who have kindly joined the book to write within their field of expertise: they will contribute the text and some photos from their collections- some never before published photos in fact!!!
in alphabetical order:
Lance Bronnenkant
Dennis Gordon
Jon Guttman
Mike O'Neal
Colin Owers
Terry 'Taz" Phillips
Steve Skinner
Alan Toelle
Greg van Wyndgarden
Charlie Woolley
and finally, humbly, myself Jim Wilberg

Also , expect some b/w drawings by Russ and a chapter by Russ himself discussing how he creates such wonderful paintings that bring visual history to life!!
stay tuned for more information as this book comes to fruition!!!

My Gallery
Thanks so much, guys. I have to admit that this book was Jim's idea and not mine. But of course, I hardly resisted when Jim suggested it.

We met with many of our contributors this past weekend, and I am really humbled by both the magnitude of the collective knowledge that will be working on this book and their willingness to contribute to the book.

Our goal is to create a book that will be detailed enough that it satisfies the most devoted WW1 buff, yet at the same time not so bogged down in detail that it alienates the general reader. In fact, my hope is that it will be a bit educational for the general reader.

Not sure how the distribution will work out at this point, but at the very least it will be available through my site. Talking with Jim, it sounds like if we can sell through our initial run we might have a chance of it being picked up by Amazon or B&N.

Oh, and we will definitely be offering remarqued editions.

Well gentlemen, you've sold one of those remarqued copies right here!

This is really exciting news. Promoting top quality work like Russell's is good for our entire hobby. The paintings will keep the book from bogging down.

Congratulations Russell!
