My Gallery
Cellon Covered Fok.EIII 396/16

Welcome.

Initially, I was just going to post this to the gallery but some thanks were in order first.

Without the help of some cool members here, this Eindecker project would not have turned out so well.
To them I owe much thanks.... Dan San Abbott, Josef Scott and Gerry Mos.... Also John McKenzie was
helpful with the engine details and Dave Douglas was nice enough to share some of his instrument faces.

Thanks all.

Cellon Covered Fok.EIII 396/16:

While the Cellon covering had promise, in practice it was a failure. For a short period of time, this plane was
void of national markings as presented here.

Tim, thanks for the mention.

I do like the end result, it does look the part, more so with the cellon finish.

What a great job! I like the detail work and the shadows! What's about some glare on the foil?

Great Work Tim!

Perhaps when you have time or the inclination some reflectivity off the Cellon covering might look nice.

Question: When they covered this model, were all the wood components painted or stained grey or silver to somewhat clend in with the metal frame components? I'm far for any expert on the Eindeckers.

Built a model once, does that count?

Cool!. Reminds me of Wonder Woman's invisible airplane.

Hi Tim,

I was wondering how this was going. It looks fabulous! - Same question about the gray components, though.

One small point - 396/16 was a typo in Datafile 15. The actual number of this aircraft was 369/16. Peter did a separate article on Cellon covering (can't immediately recall the publication) which had the correct arméenummer. It's also mentioned in documents held by the Cellon's company of manufacture, Friedr. Bayer & Co.

Great work Tim! A really unique subject; putting a pilot into the cockpit will be a bit more complex than usual since you'll need the whole body instead of just torso, arms & head.

More, more!
