Fokker aircraft in 3D

I've been doing a number of models, some as engineering studies, others for flight simulators.

She is still a WIP, but far enough advanced to show the look. It comes in at 118,000 polys (triangles only) and has some more detailed to be added to the cockpit area. The engine alone is 28,000 polys, but that is the price for a WWI rotary aircraft.

The model has been built with engineering drawings from Achim Engels, who I've been working with for 6 years. So I know the shape and sizes are spot on. Some parts of the texture needs changing as it doesn't match the engineering, but a minor point for now.

Here are some more images of the WIP.

I have the instruments and a few more cockpit details to add.

Now a Fokker V.40:

Here is the first pairing up of the new Anzani and the V.40 fuselage....

Now here are some WIP renders, with shadows and lighting. There are some anomolies, but these can now be corrected. They are linked as they are a bit big.......hope the size gives a better impression.

Looking good Gerry.

Is your Dr.I for a sim?

I've not done a low poly plane in sometime. Been thinking about doing something with Unity.
Well, just for fun at this point. I'm not skilled enough with code to tweak the engine beyond an
arcade flyer for my own amusement.

Lol...my last Fokker was millions of polys....quads...so double that for tri's.

I really like the progress of the V.40. My only crit is the pilot...Get a flyer in there!

Rock on sir!

The Dr.I is for a sim, and I'll be working up a lot of other aircraft as well over the next few months.

The V.40 will also go in.

The V.40 "pilot" is just a dummy. I do need to get or make a pilot model, WW1 period. Or convert this one. But it has too many polys for the sim, so I'll need to make a new one. Unless someone has a nice pilot that can be animated, under 2000 polys (I think).

Yeah, I figured he was a stand in. Is that 2000 tri's? That's pretty low.
The best low count character I have is 3000 quads or 6000 tri's. And he has no flight gear on. Any of my "pilots" are too high of a count to be helpful.

I do however have a base mesh and head that may help. Well the head is ok anyway. Lol. The torso would need work.

Let me know. I can dig out the head if you'd like. He's already in tri's.

That is a nice offer, I would like the model, I can then work it up to suit.

You still have my email, if not PM me.

Thanks very much.

No worries... He'd like the attention.

Let me locate him and I'll get back with you. What formats work for you? He's currently a .max file.

Hi Gerry,

Fantastic Dr.1! Sorry if I missed it somewhere but what program is it (and presumably the others) drawn in?

Regards,

David.
