I'm pleased to tell you that I have received today copies of the new book by Emmanuel Gustin and myself: 'Flying Guns: World War 1'.

It covers aircraft guns, ammunition and installations in aircraft, plus use in combat, from 1914 to 1932. Full details of the book and how to buy it can be reached from my website.

That's terrific, Tony. Definitely gonna Get Mine.
If you have time & inclination, I know many of us would be interested in a brief recap of the research involved.

Well, my research was of three types:

1. In the MoD Pattern Room, using their library and weapon collection.

2. In the Public Record Office, tracking down WW1 armament documents.

3. From various secondary sources; obviously, Harry Woodman's 'Early Aircraft Armament' (as corrected) and a variety of other books and magazine articles.

I would have liked to do all of the research from weapons and original documents, but sadly that just isn't feasible as it would take forever. However, I think I've come up with some interesting new information, especially about the cannon and their ammunition (on which there's a whole chapter).

Tony,

I've finally received my copy of yours and Dr. Gustin's book today from England.............two and half months wasn't too bad for publication and final delivery (I guess). B)

Anyway, I've only had time for a quick browsing, but it looks well worth the wait.

Congratulations, and thanks!!!
