Hullo all,

Came across a book called "The Eagle's Height" by Robert Elliot. Apparently a novel about a bloke in the RFC and it's a bit of an oldie.

Has anybody read this, and if so, is it any good?

Junior.

Never heard of it - here's your big chance to give us a review.

I collect these old novels so will be looking forward to your thoughts.

It's not enormously expensive Mike so I think I might just take a stab and get it.

Nothing ventured, nothing gained as they say.

I'll post a review after I've either read it or, if it's total garbage, thrown it at the neighbour's dog.

Junior.

PS - Received a copy of "Brief Glory" yesterday and from first appearances this looks brilliant. Should be a good follow up to my reading of High in the Empty Blue, although I dare say, a pretty moving read.

It's good, even though circa 1965. The protagonist is a newbie FE-2 driver whose brother gets morted by the Circus and swears eternal revenge. Young Mr. Hammond matriculates to Brisfits (Boom, you there?) and winds up as a Camel merchant with an attitude. I believe that "Robt. Elliot" was a nome de plume for a USAF NCO.
