A "true" Blue Max, some thoughts

I have read the book and have listened to the unabridged book on tape. Takes about 6 hours, the same as from my house to Dayton

The aircraft that P. Jackson would need to have in 'airfield models', possiible flyables and computer generated aircraft which are mentioned by names, except the Dornier which is renamed 'Adler":

German: Pfalz DIII, Albatros DV(a), Fokker DVII and some recon types. Finally, the Dornier D.I

British: Camel, SE5, RE8

The airfield in the book is almost certainly modeled after Boistrancourt and Jasta 5. The smokestack, factory and mansion come into play here. However, the Jasta is not identified.

With this in mind, if I were the consultant, I would suggest to PJ to make it Jasta 5. In fact, Klugermann's Albatros is described as a green Albatros as if it were modeled on Konneckers'. Please, Jasta 5 purists, it's just a movie idea!

Hi,

As I mentioned on the other part on the remake of TBM, Peter Jackson is having constructed 3 Fokker DVII's in New Zealand. So the first steps have been taken, that is for certain.
Now it will be up the forumites to convince him what unit to choose

Best from Johan

Apparently there's some SEs being knocked up as well for the opening scene of King Kong. If that's the case my money's on them being also developed with the next WWI project in mind as well.

Personally I'm hoping it's not a remake of BM, much rather see a new flick about an RFC SE mob

Junior.

Angry

I'm with you Junior, doesn't anyone want a film about the GOOD GUYS!!

Snoopy NOT Red Baron!

I hate to be the bringer of bad news, but two in-the-know managers have told me there is just NO INTEREST in Hollywood right now for a flying ace movie. Mine has placed in prestigious contests, gotten good feedback but the same old "not what we're looking for just now." Evidently WWI is a hard sell.
Even one development chap told me he would think it would be "ripe for a flying ace movie after Sky Captain" but it is just not happening.

So despite what we all think, I don't see the producers on board yet. And even the Red Baron movie is at the mercy of Miramax's current suspended status with Disney and its money.

So we'll have to look to King Kong for our aerial kicks as I see it!

If I hear any different I'll be the first to say, and I'd like to hear anything any of you in the industry know or hear.

Cheers,
Scarlett

I just hope he's not using General Arrangement Plans to put the SE 5a together...He may lose his audiance.

With close to a thousand different copy blueprints in full scale and almost as many slides of the original SE blueprints, I think he is in good shape...
I have George Lucas project large dwgs for Attack of The Hawkmen. and they are all 36" x 48" GA dwgs...For Sopwith 1 1/2 Strutter; Fokker Dr.1; Albatros D.V; & Nieuport 17. Still-pretty good details and measurements...With the 3" thick volume of the (full) script & storyboards (just for the aviation scenes).
