Hi,
Well, I didn't respond at first because I thought the well-written review by Barrett said it all. Yes, it is in very similar format to the Victoria Cross book, with absolutely superb illustrations. Alan Durkota tells the stories of every MOH aviator very well, and shares many excellent photos of the men and their aircraft. Included are rare images of Nieuport 28s and Spads of the 27th and 94th Aero Squadrons, as well as DH4's of the 50th Aero and Macchi flying boats and Curtiss N-9s. For me the highlight is the superb section of beautiful color profiles rendered with great accuracy and detail by the talented Juanita Franzi (these are computer generated and are as good as they come). The color section was done with input from Alan Toelle, so the colors are very accurate.
One minor caution; the info on
Frank Luke should be updated by referring to "Over the Front" Vol. 19 No. 2, Summer 2004. That issue has a new Spad flown by Luke (No. 21). Also you should refer to Vol. 19 No. 4 for additional info; for instance, the photo on page 29 of the MOH book is incorrectly identified as Frank Luke. Alan Toelle has shown that this is actually Daniel W. "Dodd" Cassard of the 147th Aero.
