Thumbs down Copyright infringement...

I don't know if this is the correct thread to be posting this line of thinking, but...

There is an advertised web link on another thread that goes to a Russian 'aero' site. On that site they have drawings of many aircraft, both technical and in full color profile. From a brief look, I can see that some are indeed full scans of Windsock Datafiles (Caudron GIII and Fok. DVII to start). I can't tell if any permission has been granted by WD for this use.

As someone who cherishes the WD and respects and supports her publishers, I think that this is a copyright violation. I also think that anyone advertising said website should be careful or be found complicite.

Just my 2 drachmas.

Copyright Infringement

John- The site is actually Czech, but you are right. I noticed that yesterday. Some of the drawings were pilfered directly from Albatros publications with the copyright warning still on the drawings. Ray Rimell visits the Forum on occasion, so maybe he will take note. Really hard to shut something like that down, though. Have scanner, will violate, I guess.

Web Thieves

As one who writes occasionally for Wind Sock I have a personal interest in this sort of thing. Albatros publications are expensive because they cater to a niche market, are well researched and printed on excellent paper by the best modern methods to give you, the modeller and historian the best result possible. This does not mean that they should be ripped off.

I note that the web site is not given. If it has a reply address, everyone who enjoys this forum should email their disgust at the person who is running this blantant rip off of other people's talents.

If we want to see Albatros continue to produce the material we like, then we need to support it and have these cowboys exposed and forced off the net as soon as possible.

Colin- Here is the site in question. John was right, it is Russian, not Czech.
