Vintage Warbird & Aces and Aeroplanes series
I recently acquired "Vintage Warbird #4 - The Bristol Fighter" and was quite pleased with it. Does anyone have a complete list of the WWI subjects in this series? I'm also interested in what titles Albatros put out in their "Aces and Aeroplanes" series. I know of "#1-Werner Voss" and "#2-Georges Guynemer".

Aces & Aeroplanes #3
Hey,
I'm pretty sure that A&A #3 was on James McCudden. I'll have to check when I get home today. Maybe even post ya a small scan of the cover if the "Copyright Police" won't bust me for it.

Aces & Aeroplanes No. 3
No 3 was indeed about Jimmy McCudden and was written by Alex Revell. A good, concise account.

Josef- The fourth book in the A&A series evolved into Richthofen by the late Ed Ferko. Great book with unbelievable number of original photos from Ed's collection now at UT Dallas.

Thanks for the info, guys. Am I right in assuming that this series (other than the "Richthofen" book) are long out of print? I've never seen them listed on any current booksellers list. They do pop up on eBay now and then...

Josef- Very rare. Took me 4-5 years to find them all. Mostly from haunting abebooks.com. On the Vintage Warbirds series, the latest I have is No 10, Nieuport Aircraft of World War One by J.M. Bruce. The only 3 purely on aircraft besides the one you have are on Sopwith Fighters, Fokker Fighters, and the one above. Other 6 in the series cover the RFC, German Army Air Service, RAF Between the Wars, Air War Over Britain, German Aces, and WW-1 in the Air. Bargains at their original $8.95 or so (vol 8) and still worth having.

In 1989, Arms & Armour Press followed Vintage Warbirds with their Vintage Aviation - fotofax series covering a wide range of military topics. Each book was similar in format to the VW series, with mostly photos and a few data tables or plan views. Included were at least 3 books on FWW aviation: German Naval Air Service, Sopwith Camel, and German Bombers of World War One. Good general and useful resources IMO.
