What this book did for me was lend perspective. More than any other book that I have read on the air war it hammers home the point that the value of aviation was artillery spotting and intelligence. The job of the scout squadrons was to deprive the the opponent of these advantages or support of your own aircraft so employed. It also does an excellent job of illustrating what was happening in the air in relationship to what was happening on the ground.
