Pulps: any recommendations?

Hey, I know it's not history, but neither are movies. Just as sometimes junk food tastes good, I happen to indulge sometimes in trashy entertainment.

So, after searching the internet for Bill Barnes novels for my dad, I think they are good reading and I am wondering what else can be found out there. Biggles doesn't have appeal for me but I am feeling curious G-8 and his Battle Aces, what's it all about? It's any good? At the very least the covers are great!

Some Pulp Story Resources I have stumbled upon

Romani,

Perhaps you have found this stuff already, but for you and for anyone else who might be interested, there's a neat Gallery of "G-8" covers here:

You will also find a selection of pulp stories reproduced online here:

Hey, thanks a lot, that was just what I was looking for! Now I finally get it about those infamous "Purple Aces" threads, I thought that those people had inhaled too much glue fumes, but now.. you mean there's a book?

G-8 novels are probably unreadable trash, but the concept is very intriguing and can't believe it was done in the 1930s. I am surprised that with the proliferation of alternative history themes and pulp games such as Gearkrieg, nobody has jumped onto this franchise yet and made a roleplaying game or something. Zombie German pilots wielding Gatling guns is just what our hobby needs to draw the younger generation !

Mm, perhaps I should make my own game.

G-8

Way back when I was younger, in the 1960s I think, they reprinted G-8 and his Battle Aces in a series of paperbacks. I got the first two, but there were more before the series stopped.

Having heard about G-8 and the pulps I always wanted to read a G-8, I was not disappointed. They are trashy and "Coffin-nosed Fokkers" pursue our heros in their Spads to the inevitable good guys winning.

Fun stuff, but very dated.

You can probably pick them up somewhere from specialist bookshops.

Guys,
Adventure House Publishing is reprinting the G-8 series about once every 3 months in the original size with the original covers. They are currently on issue #20.Check out their website, for 10.00 an issue they're pretty cool!
best wishes,
Scott
