I am like Alex, I have had two issues for 2002, spring & summer. It seems a bit strange that one member in Germany has received thier fall issue three weeks ago, but no one in the UK has, or is because we might have chosen surface mail? Whatever Alex at least we have more idea of what is going on!

Ordering surface vs. Airmail outside the US makes a big difference!

Also, here in the US if you order 4th class vs. 1st class it makes as much a difference between 1-3 weeks!

FinnN Well trust me to put my foot in it. Did you receive issue 3/2002? They say there's an exception to every rule.

Ladies & Gentlemen:

An up-date.

I just received the winter 2002 addition yesterday.
I'm located just outside of Boston, Mass. and the issue is sent airmail.

In this issue:

Flying with Fliegerabteilung (A) 253
Lyn.d.R. Julius Bender
German Flak
Rare Bird - AEG J.la & J.II
Aviation Themes in WW1 Advertising

I'm sure other subscribers will seeing theirs shortly.

Hello All,

Yup, as Joe Doyle says, members should be receiving Vol. 17 No. 4 shortly - and it's worth the wait !! Just received mine yesterday, and it has terrific contributions by several Forumites. Absolutely beautiful color profiles of the AEG J.II, with an associated article on the type by Peter Grosz, scale drawings in 1/48 by Martin Digmayer, and lots of great photos. Also, the wonderfully researched and illustrated in-depth article on German Flak in WWI (a topic which sorely needed attention) by our own Gunnar Soderbaum and Dr. Hannes Täger - many interesting photos. Issue editor Peter Kilduff contributed a marvelous translation of various comments & anecdotes from his old friend Hann-Gerd Rabe, with first-hand details of what it was like to fly in an AEG J.I (a nice tie-in). Kilduff also has an absolutely terrific piece on Julius Bender of Jasta 4, with wonderfully sharp photos of JG I aircraft which I hadn't seen before, and more mouth-watering aircraft photos appear in the "From the Albums" feature, including a "brand new" photo of Udet by the tail of one of his red (?) Fokker D.VIIs at Metz - more food for thought !!

Of course, all of it is beautifully laid out by Art Director Aaron Weaver, and the photo reproduction has never been bettter - clean and precise. Peter Kilduff is to be commended for a superb issue.

You've sold it to me. I'm getting a subscription now!
Hopefully, they will come thru their present difficulties.

Vig.
