OTF

Does anone know what is happening with OTF. I have had only two issues for 2002 - Spring and Summer. No Fall and no Winter editons. I really don't feel like renewing until I get my back 2 issues (soon to be 3).
Regards
Alex

Alex:

I received my Fall 2002 issue in mid January after e-mailing the membership secretary. Apparently they are behind and the winter issue will be out ??????.
I live in Massachusetts which is only several hundred miles for Cincinnati, Ohio. I'm interested to see if other foreign subscriptions are still missing.

p.s. I did renew my subscription, and received a very nice e-mail for the secretary. His e-mail address is, janustech@compuserve.com
Attn: Richard Bennett.

Best regards
Joe

Alex,
I got my issue here in Germany three weeks ago. Perhaps you should try and visit their website: http://overthefront.com/

There is a button "Problems receiving the Journal...Click here". Like you, I had the same problems last year and it worked fine for me!

BTW, the new issue is worth waiting for it...

Regards,
Immo

Considering that OTF is so short of funds, I found it interesting that they did not enclose a renewal form for 2003. Election form yes, renewal no. I wonder what gives with the organization. R.

Rick, I wondered about this too. I really hope that OTF is not in serious trouble ???

Alex,

You'll get those issues...

Now, to the rest of you folks:

Winter OTF 2002 Issue status...

Winter Issue 2003 is ready to be printed... material was late being handed off and was not edited properly/nor timely by Editorial staff. I had to wait until all was handed off piecemeal. The last pieces of rear cover artwork are supposed to be handed off tonight.

Spring Issue 2003 materials are in hand and being text going through editorial review. Front cover is designed. Handoff of finalized edited text files and related materials to me is March 15, 2003, and printer should have it April 15 which means May 15 distribution.

Summer Issue 2003 materials are also in hand ready to be edited. Basic front cover design is completed. No photos were received for this Issue from the authors/or Issue Editor, and so sources are being gathered. This shouldn't be a problem as we have plenty of archival sources available and handoff to me isn't until May 15.

(I won't let an Issue go out without decent photographic material.)

If you have any questions contact Jim Streckfuss or Dick Bennett about organizational matters. Jim's email is Jstreckfus@aol.com

Cigogne

Gentlemen, please remember that OtF is an entirely volunteer organization with the subscription fees barely covering the printing costs. This non-paid effort extends from the writers of the articles up to the final editor. This is a tremendous job. Men like Cigogne are the glue that holds this effort together. Sometimes issues are submitted in electronic form but many times not. We've got a lot of "older" writers and editors out there that still don't know much about computers, hence their submissions are done the old fashioned way. All this has to be converted into electronic form for the modern printing equipment. So hang in there. The issues will come. Heck, I'm the issue editor for the first issue of 2005 (or was it 2006?). And I've begun to work on it. There's plenty of fine material to come.
