Nieuports in RNAS, RFC & RAF Service

The long awaited Nieport monograph from Cross & Cockade International was launched yesterday - 190 pages (including the covers) covering everything you could wish to know about Nieuports in British service during the Great War.

A listing of the chapters:

Nieuport Monoplanes with the Air Battalion & RNAS
The Royal Naval Air Service In Flanders
The RNAS in the Dardanelles and the Eastern Mediterranean
The Nieuport two-seater in RFC service
The Nieuport single-seater in RFC service
RFC Nieuport single-seaters in other theatres

(all of the above by Mike O'Connor)

Service Units operating Nieuports
Production Numbers and serials listings
Operations of naval vessels using Nieuport floatplanes
Provisional correlation of SFA and RFC numbers
The Nieuport 23Bis
Identification of Nieuport Sesquiplanescouts in British service
Scale drawings of types 10 to 27
Miscellaneous cockpit and structural details

(all of the above by Mick Davis)

In addition there is colour artwork by Brian Knight, C Ashford, C Forbes, and CPO W Pollard, the most superb colour cutaway constructional details in 3D by Mark Miller, and pages and pages of colour profiles by Tod Comeau, Ronny Bar and Richard Ansell. Finally, vast numbers of original photographs, many of which you will not have seen before.

This superb work is now available from Cross & Cockade at a price of £30.00 inc. postage in the UK and £32.00 inc postage overseas - pay pal is accepted apparently.

Thanks for the heads-up, Mike. With a birthday next Sunday, guess what I'll be asking for

Looks to be a great book!

I have been watching the C & C site closely and awaiting an update- is the book available yet or has their been a delay? I do not want to miss getting a copy of this one.

Thank you.

Does it actually address the issue of 'how' the Nieuport flew? Eg climb, roll, yaw, stall, manoeuverability, control responsiveness and performance figures?

There seems to be a huge gap in our knowledge of just how the aircraft of WWI performed ni the air. Admittedly there was nothing like the detailed testing that occurred from the early '30's onwards, but surely there must be a record of pilots notes somewhere?

Delivered yesterday. At a first glance, beautiful illustrations, almost every British Nieuport listed by serial number, most accompanied by photographs.

Hi Cobby: it is not that book. I am looking for a book you described too. But I am not disappointed by this one. May be I would like hardcover, not so glossy paper, or different font, but this book is worthwhile.

Regards,
Yavor

fantastic effort by Cross and COckade

i just received my copy in the mail today, and i would say that this book is definitely pricey: especially having to pay shipping to the states:
but i think it is worthwhile, it is full of details and the photos are profuse and well done: the artwork by Mr. Miller is stunning and i can stare at his work all day to look at the minute details- what an artist!
I would recommend this book for its superb and thorough contents, but if you are strapped for cash , you may have to wait and save some pennies for awhile; but in the end this book will be well worth it.
THANK YOU to the people who produced this wonderful piece!!
