Mata Hari was only interested in one thing

- and it wasn't espionage

I accidentally came across this interesting article on a new book out. FEMME FATALE: A Biography Of Mata Hari by Pat Shipman, published by Weidenfeld & Nicholson.

Cheers
Rod

Everything in this article is old news, but thanks because I enjoyed reading it again. All of this information was published more than twenty years ago... there's no question that Mata Hari was murdered by the French government as a propaganda move. But its fascinating to read and very educational.

The real morale of the story, of course, is that many innocent people were murdered as a result of the government-instilled fear and panic that gripped France in 1916... a lesson that should not be lost on those encouraged by their government to live in that same fear and panic in 2007.
