Gotta admit though, I've had it a year and not watched any yet. But one day...

There's others in the series too.

My Gallery
Hi guys, thanks for the replies.
Its 1.30 in the morning, I have to go to work at 6.30am tomorrow. My 2-year-old son won't sleep because his infected ears are hurting too much and we are sitting on the couch watching his Wiggles dvd for about the three hundredth time. Maybe I am getting tired but I am finding myself wishing that it was the first day on the Somme and all four Wiggles plus Captain Feathersword are going to be in the first wave over the top. Or how about they are all Be2 aircrew whose guns have jammed and they are going up against a formation of two-dozen Eindeckers?
The German squadron-leader can say, "Now try theze hot-potatoes, schweinhunds!"
Of course when my son is 16, I won't be able to get him to wake up! Phew, parent-hood ain't easy. Just as well I love him.
Stay cool, Forum members. Pete

Movies v History

Pete

Yeah the Hooky thing is a bit of an urban myth within the Aussie Army. In the 70 & 80's 'Zulu' was shown to all recruits during recruit training. The real Hook of course was a tea totaller and it was Hitch who was given the choice of the Army or prison. I'm loath to criticse Zulu as it is still one of my all time favourites and by Holywood standards is reasonably accurate. A VC winner of that era did loose his VC for misbehaviour but not Hook. Interesting fact - Colour Sergeant Bourne died on 8 May 45 - VE Day!!!

At Stirling Bridge the Scots only cut off the vangard and many of the mounted knights fought their way through to the safety of Stirling Castle. I've also read that Wallace made a belt out of a flayed opponent!

I'm also facinated in my reading that there is a belief that a charge by the Templar Knights won the day for the Scots a Bannockburn.

Neil - I actually prefer the ending to 300 Spartans - I love the scene when the Spartans try to fight their way to Xerses followed by the final last stand; it is far more moving than 300. Prefer Butler to Egan, as Leonadis though. Egan seems like a refugee from a Western.

Cheers Russ
