Question French must-have books for a well-assorted library?

Hello!

The AERODOME FORUM has a wonderful list of ENGLISH books concerning the various aspects of early and WW1 aviation. But you have to win in the lottery (and I mean a really big lottery prize) to buy them all. I think that we can agree that Dan-San’s book about Schlachtflieger is one every WW1 aviation enthusiast should have in his shelf – as well as some of the books published by Grub Street and the small Windsock Publications. And there are surly other definite books I don’t even know about …

The depressingly constant lack or money in my purse leads to the following question:

What FRENCH books are a ‘must-have’ in a well-assorted library and where can you get them for a reasonable price?

Some of us have the advantage to understand and read more than one language. Therefore this thread is divided into three parts (or threads) – for books in ENGLISH, FRENCH and GERMAN. Are there must-have books in these other languages?

Any comments or hints are welcome!

Sehr geehrter Herr Nemsch,

One essential French book is the Les escadrilles de l'aéronautique militaire francaise 1912-1920, published by the Service Historique de l'Armée de l'Air in 2005. This book is not cheap, I paid 77 € excluding postage, but worth every euro-cent if you have a serious interest in French military aviation during WW 1

Volker,

A nice contemporary reference is La Guerre Aerienne, a weekly publication during the war. You get a nice sense of what was happening during the time. Also, lots of pictures.

I can only muddle through French, but I wholly agree on the "Les escadrilles de l'aéronautique militaire francaise 1912-1920" - it's a nicereference.
