The German Army on the Somme 1914 - 1916

Great book by Jack Sheldon with an intriguing foreword narrative by Prof. Richard Holmes. Anybody else picked it up? Very interesting accounts in there about both the ground war and the war in the air. They have a picture of three Rumpler Taubes fighting five F.E.8s, and if you look closely, you can see the silhouette of a British pilot falling to his death. Powerful and graphic stuff.

If you haven't got it on your shelf, I recommend you pick it up. Here's the version I have:

Amazon.com: THE GERMAN ARMY ON THE SOMME...Amazon.com: THE GERMAN ARMY ON THE SOMME...

I got mine from Barnes & Noble for $23.00, but that was an in-person transaction at the mall. Shop around. You might find a cheaper copy.
