Primary Sources, WWI Reconnaissance

Hey folks,

I apologize if this is in the wrong forum, but I am searching for primary sources on WWI Aerial Reconnaissance for a research project. There is apparently not much on it at my university and database searches are coming up slim. I have a handful of books that discuss reconnaissance in passing, but none that really address it. I wish I could offer my detail about what I am researching, but to be honest, I am not even quite sure what about aerial reconnaissance I am even trying to answer. Right now, I am just trying to get a start.

Any suggestions on any solid books or articles on the topic would be helpful, primary or secondary.

Thank you.

A forumite recommended me this book:

Aerial Observation: The Airplane Observer, The Balloon Observer And The Army Corps Pilot (Hardcover)
by Harold E. Porter (Author)

It's available on Amazon.

Hope this helps

This might help a bit. This is the page from my online bibliograhy with some book info: Reconnaissance Operations

I haven't updated this page in a while, so I think I maybe have a couple more for it. I'll look. Enjoy.

Shooting the Front

Terry Finnegan's Shooting the Front is an excellent source for aerial reconn.

Should be available on Amazon, but will not be cheap... so be prepared !

Thank you for the help guys. I actually googled around and found Harold Porter's Aerial Observation accessible online. I'd post the link, but I can't since I haven't made 10 posts yet. Just google Aerial Observation, though, if you're interested.

Finnegan's book was actually available in my university library. You're right, it is quite amazing. It's comprised of a lot of primary sources too, which I need.

Actual primary sources are hard to come by. Memoirs of reconn pilots or observers are either scarce or simply not at my library, I'm not sure which yet.

Edit: After looking down rainbase's list, I've found 6 of his books in my library. For some reason, searching aerial reconnaissance, aerial observation, etc, etc, never brought any of these up. Good stuff, thank you.
