Hans Grade - biography

I realized that a full scale German language biography of the German aviation pioneer Hans Grade was published in 2008. All of 423 pages of it.

These are the book data

Quote:
Seifert, Karl-Dieter. 2008. Hans Grade Ingenieur - Flugpionier - Automobilbauer ; ein Leben in stürmischen Zeiten. Magdeburg: Ost-Nordost.
The book is apparently sold in Germany for an enticing EUR 19,80.

Is there anybody who has already seen this book? Thinking about it, this year produced a lot of German language books about German pioneer aviators (2 on Euler, 1 on Grade). It is great to see them.

Cheers

Kees

This biography of Hans Grade appears because 100 years ago he made a flight with his Grade Triplane. This was on November 2, 1908.The flight that was made near Magdeburg was almost 100 meter and about 8 meter high.

Germany gives due credit to its aviation pioneers.

Cheers

Kees,

I wished this kind of topics and publications would get more public attention in Germany. Did never see the Euler books or Grade in any bookshop ´til now.

Karl-Dieter Seifert, born in 1931, wrote many aviation books, among them also „Josef Sablatnig – Der Sablatnig Flugzeugbau und sein Chefkonstrukteur Hans Seehase“ (2002) and „Deutsche Flieger über den Kolonien“ (2007).

The German situation will not differ appreciably from the normal situation in the Netherlands. Only the one or two specialist bookshops will carry them. The general public is not so very interested in early aviation history, with possibly the exception of the Wrights (whom everybody seems to know). I will order the Grade book somewhere in Germany, as it should be a very good piece of work.

I will look in the other works too of Seiffert -

Seifert, Karl-Dieter. 2002. Josef Sablatnig: der Sablatnig-Flugzeugbau und sein Chefkonstrukteur Hans Seehase. Berlin: NoRa. ISBN 3935445636

Seifert, Karl-Dieter, Bernd Lukasch, and Reiner Weiss. 2004. Der Dampfmotor des Flugpioniers, leichte Wanddampfmaschine Nr. 137, 1889, Dampfkessel- und Maschinenfabrik Otto Lilienthal Berlin, Köpenicker Straße 110/113. Patrimonia, 271. Berlin: Kulturstiftung der Länder.

Seifert, Karl-Dieter, and Thomas Waßermann. 1992. Otto Lilienthal: Leben und Werk : eine Biographie. Hamburg ; Wien: Urban.

Seiffert, Karl-Dieter. Deutsche Flieger über den Kolonien. 2007

Seiffert seems to be a great and prolific writer.

Cheers

Kees
