Dee-lighted to know that 56 Sqn is (properly) included in Elite Units. I'm just finishing a USN entry in that series but hadn't heard of any other upcoming titles. Some units may or may not be truly elite, but most of 'em deserve coverage.

Jastafleiger

In late 1917, there was a mock dogfight between Fullard of 1 sqn And Nungesser - and I believe Fullard won.

Guynemer contra Lewis

Jastaflieger

I have not seen the Aerodrome thread describing the mock dogfight
between Georges Guynemer and Cecil Lewis, but Lewis tell the story
quite well in his classic, SAGITTARIUS RISING. Guynemer flew the
pants off of Lewis--it was no contest, just as it was when Lewis
had a mock combat with Patrick (W.J.C. Kennedy-Cochran-Patrick),
who had been his flight instructor.

regards, josquin

Speaking of Osprey's Elite Units series, "this just in..."

Future titles are 23rd FG, 479th FG, No 617 Sqn, JG 400, VF-111, No 56 Sqn RFC/RAF(WW1), 53° Stormo, and No 126 Canadian Wing (WW2).

Sounds as if there's still room for No. 56 Sqn Vol. (WW) II...
