Russian Military Air Fleet WW 1/A. G. Blume

Looks interesting: http://www.schifferbooks.com/newschi.../militaryf.pdf (see page 7)

Though I must curse the split in two 240-page volumes as one 480-page volume would have been perfectly doable. The combined price of $160 is really steep

Hi,

I know August was in full agreement with Schiffer Publishing to do a two volume edition. One advantage, of course, is that people can buy the work one volume at a time, as opposed to spending $160 at one time.

August's work will be the standard reference for the air war on the Eastern Front, and will be the definitive work for many years to come.

He told me that he was surprised to note that during his travel to Russia, it became clear that he had material and many sources which were not readily available to Russian aviation historians.

I know that this remarkable work, by a remarkable man, wil reward all who purchase it.

Best,
cfgray

The single volume version would not cost $160! Just compare the prices of Rick&Danīs book or the big Italian Aces or Neal O'Connorīs books.

Hi,
Well, we will never know exactly what a single volume edition of August's monumental work would have cost, but I will certainly buy and enjoy the two volumes.
Best,
cfgray

Plus...

... it's difficult reading a 480 page book while lying on your back!

No offense, but that is a sorry excuse as most large format hard cover books are unsuitable to be read in that position!

You are quite right!
I am working on my beer gut so that I can balance large formats in a more comfortable and readable way!
