Daughter of Dracula - Graphic novel on MvR

Let me tell you about a little gem I found a while ago and which inspired my avatar. The nice lady is Marya, Countess Dracula. She is the protagonist of a graphic novel named “The Daughter of Dracula”, written by Ron Fortier and illustrated by Rob Davis.

COVER ART

It is set in WW1 and tells the story of Marya, C.D. meeting a stranger in the woods of her estate in Eastern Europe by chance. He is Manfred von Richthofen, the Red Baron, hunting for a wild boar. They fall in love (the cover art shows her wearing MvR's Pour le Merite) and after his death in combat, Marya first wreaks havoc among his enemies but then makes a discovery that changes her (undead) life.

It is a beautifully told and illustrated work of art. I recommend reading and enjoying it to everyone interested in MvR and WW1 fiction. The authors self-published it so it is a little hard to get but search the web and you’ll find it.

I am interested to say the least. I know Kim Newman's novel 'the bloody red baron' which deals with the topic in a similar way but despite some real good ideas it's a bit imperfect.
