new book by Leon Bennett

I see on Amazon that Leon Bennett's new book will be along in a few months titled, "Fall of the Red Baron: WW1 Aerial Tactics and the Death of Richthofen".
Apparently it will be an in depth study of air combat tactics and yet another analysis of the death of Richthofen to ground fire. I've read this authors' work before and it's always well researched and reasoned.

Nice find Steven, thanks for the heads-up.

It would seem, from the editorial review, that the book is more aimed at analysising aerial tactics per se of the Great War, rather than just being limited to another book on Manfred. For example:

"What were the aces like? How were tactics tailored to suit personality? What traits made for the ability to grapple with a jammed machine gun? A dozen high achievers are examined in terms of tactics and background. In a fascinating study Leon Bennett covers all of these aspects of WWI aerial combat, and more."

Which isn't a bad thing at all, and makes the book worthy of reading.

Is there a chance that this is a retitled "Gunning For The Red Baron" by the same author? That's how I'd describe the first title.

rainbase,
I would assume this is not a repeat of "Gunning for the Red Baron". That book dealt almost exclusively with guns and their effectiveness during WW1. As Pips pointed out, this new book will be about tactics. This author includes a reference to "Red Baron" in all his titles.

I would suggest ordering this because I was lucky to get a copy of Leon's " Three Wings for the Red Baron : Von Richthofen, Strategy, Tactics, and Airplanes" now selling for $1,256.59 Does anyone want to buy my copy for only $1,000.00 that's a $256.95 savings and I'll pick-up the next day shipping fee.

Thanks for the heads up on this book! It will go on the want list. The author obviously likes to use MvR to sell his books. Sigh....where would this hobby/profession be without the ubiquitous Red Baron??? Nice photo choice for the cover.

Its on the wish list!

About a year ago, I found a copy of "Three Wings For The Red Baron" in a used bookstore for 12 bucks. Was short on time and had to come back later. Of course it was gone. Damn.
