Can anyone clarify colors of Bristol nightfighter?

I have received conflicting information from different sources (so what else is new?) on the colors and markings of Bristol F2.B's used in the night fighter role. One source says that the only difference between the night and day fighters was that the night fighters had the white painted out on the roundels and rudder flash, the white being replaced with the same PC10 used on the fuselage and top fabric on the wings, with the lower surfaces being in CDL. In other words, the same scheme as the day fighter right down to the battleship gray metal areas of the forward fuselage. One would think that CDL would be as bright on a moonlit night as the relatively small area taken up by the white circles and white stripes on the national insignia, so why, once wonders, wasn't this wide expanse of light color painted over, if it wasn't?
Does anyone know of an accurate source that tells us what, if any, color changes were made to Bristol night fighters?
Thanks,
TOM
