Karl Thom's airplane

The asking price was 300 Euro and it was sold for 100 less.

Gregvan,

Looking at the crashed Albatros picture, it seems that the T is arched. Could it also be a picture of Emil Thuy's airplane?

Gregvan,

Looking again at the crahed Albatros pic, am I correct seeing lozenge pattern on the underside of the broken upper wing? What do you think?

Hi Sprueflyer,

As I said when I posted the image, yes, the wings of the crashed Albatros D.V are definitely covered in five-color lozenge fabric, as are the tailplane and elevator. The 'T' is Thom's angular version, you're just seeing the 'extreme' serifs. I would agree that the bottom edges of each side of the top bar of the 'T' look curved, but the top is definitely straight and horizontal.

Thuy's "T" insignia was always WHITE, outlined in black, and the top of the T was curved in a semicircle. I would imagine that Thuy used a white T and Thom always used a black T (outlined in white), of different format, so their aircraft would not be confused.

Greg
