Canvas Side Markings ??

Hi, I need help to identify a German plane? I recently purchased the canvas side of a plane, it is marked with a large black cross and AEG Jii 390/18. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

The fabric should be linen and not canvas. They did not use canvas on aircraft. The fabric would be for the rear side portion of the fuselage from behind the observer's cockpit back to the tail. This type of aircraft was armor plated from the nose to just behind of the observer/gunner's cockpit and was used for close infantry cooperation and ground attack.

You mean linen canvas, not cotton canvas... linen is a canvas so all the planes using linen were using canvas.
Linen canvas was used because it is much stronger and permanent then cotton or other type canvas.

My comment was directed at Cigogne, not you. I think it would help if you posted a picture of it?
Thanks,
