Fokker E.V/ D.VIII paints & stains question
I have a question that has been bugging me related to prior discussions of Fokker D VIII finishes. One of the references that kept coming up was the paint/ stain schedule on the Fokker drawing.
The Fokker D VIII Datafile lists a schedule of finishing materials that says it is from the Fokker drawing, including primer, clear, white, black and the four colors of stains. Is this an incomplete list? The reason I ask, where is the "paint" for the Fokker green used on the metal cowl, metal upper forward decking, lower metal sheeting and hatches and the subwing?
My curiosity has peaked.
(By the way, I am not disputing the 4 color wing staining)
Dale

I think this is a valid question and believe Langdon Badger is the man to ask on this matter since he is deep into his own E.V replica construction.

Bookmaker & Lyle,
The information given in the Datafile is correct (apart from a couple of item numbers which have been mixed up) but only relates to the wing as it was taken from that drawing.

Langdon, If I understand your post, the schedule of finishing materials in the Datafile does NOT include the materials needed to do the fuselage, stabilizers, struts or subwing. These would have been listed on other drawings.
If that is a correct understanding, my curiosity is satisfied.
By the way, how are your D VIII projects coming along?

Bookmaker,
That is correct. I'm not sure the information you are after in contained on the fuselage and undercarriage drawings but that quoted on the wing drawing definitely only relates to that drawing.

Thanks for the info, Langdon. I'm not really looking for any additional info, I just got real curious why the Datafile only listed those items, and they did not appear to cover everything.
Thanks again,
Dale
