Fokker E I 6/15 "Habicht"

Hello all,

I am the happy owner of Alex Imrie's book "German fighter units 1914-may 1917".

I was amazed to discover a Fokker E with a personnal decoration, Richard Dietrich's Fokker E I 6/15.

I would like to make a color profile of this plane. Does anyone haves a better view of the hawk decoration, or would know where a could find a better quality picture of the plane ?

Thanks !

DTB

I would like a clear picture of Fok.E.I 6/15 myself. I have also been intrigued with this E.I. With the lack of any response, I think we are out of luck.

Hi All,

There are at least three different photos of this aircraft, but none of them are sufficiently close or clear enough to facilitate an informed representation of the insignia. I've stared long and hard at it, but I'm still unsure of many details. The 'hawk' seems to have something underneath it, as if it is clutching something in its talons. There is also a two-color object painted above the hawk itself.

Good luck. Actually, there were quite a few E.I's and other Eindeckers with personal and/or unit markings, but most of these took the form of simple fuselage stripes or wheel decorations.

Here's another view of Dietrich in his E.I:

Detail

Here's a detail, the best I can do given the limitations of the forum:

Hope that helps.

That´s an eyeball-breaking task!

Let´s guess:
Either a hawk with a kind of wreath (symbol for honour) or with a snake in his claws.

Other suggestions?

Thanks !

Many thanks for those 3 pictures. I think we'll have to trick with our imagination to make a profile...
