Bristol Fighter F2B

I am working on redoing some plans for a 1/4 scale F2b to make them more scale as I want to build and have it ready for Dawn Patrol next fall.

I have a paint scheme that I like that I have found from a 1/48 scale model add of eduardos limited edition that shows a fish down the sides

I am trying to find more info on this scheme IE if it was from an actual unit or if it is just some model fancy. if it is legit scheme any info on it ie colors used 3 views of the scheme anything would be greatly appreciated

thanks
joe

The 'Brishfish' pattern is an authentic representation of F2B 1288, as it appeared in late 1918 (post-Armistice). Two black and white photos of this scheme can be seen on page 91 of Bristol F2B Fighter - King of Two-Seaters by Chaz Bowyer. The squadron with which this aircraft served is not specified.

Brisfish

Thanks Tom I found a windsock datafile with 3 black and whites and the only other info I found in there besides the planes number is that the Pilot of this plane was Squadron Leader H. Cockerell, OBE (dunno what OBE stands for though)
Now All I have to do is to somehow document the colors used as this will be for competition and this is my first WWI subject so not sure where to go next as I am used to WWII subjects which seem easy to find info on

Joe

PS I just found out while trying to search for cockerell that OBE = Order of the British Empire it appears to me to be some kind of distinguished service medal

Bristol

Joe, Very ambitious project. Do you have the Windsock Data File Special by JM Bruce? If Colin Owers is looking in perhaps he can help. Colin did an article for Windsock International in 1999 about " Issoudun's Colorful Nieuports" You may know that there was a couple painted up as "flying fish". Don't know if there ia any connection to your Bristol but who knows? I'll be watching your build over at RCSB. Good Luck!

Obe

Gents,
OBE stands for Order of the British Empire.
Best regards,
Terry
