Looking for Aircraft Profiles for Billik & Voss

Hello All;

Anyone out there know where I can get profile information for the following aircraft;

Paul Billik's Pfalz from Jasta 52

Werner Voss's first Albatros possibly DI or DII (have heard it might have been overpainted olive drab with skull marking on the side) from Jasta 2 (I think he was flying with MvR at the time).

Looking for a colour profile or a good description of both aircraft.

Hope someone can help.

Thanks,

scooterjmuggs out...

Voss' first aircraft?

Voss' first aircraft still remains a mystery. It may have been a Albatros D.II, and looking at the Jasta Boelcke victory log he did indeed score a couple of victories in it. But to this date the aircraft still remains unidentified. Have not seen any photos of it. Also I'm not sure if Voss was even flying while Richthofen was in jasta Boelcke, or if he had left to command jasta 11 by then (the dates escape me at this time). However the Albatros D.I with skull markings on the side and fuselage overpainted green was not flown by Voss, it was flown by Prince Karl (his last name also escapes me at this time) and has been well documented with photos on the Aerodrome at various times, do a search for Prince karl and you should find some useful information.
Hope this helps,
Dave

SJM- Voss scored 28 or his 48 victories while flying with Jasta 2/B from 25 Nov 1916 until 20 May 1917. MvR scored 16 of his 80 victories with Jasta 2/B from 1 Sep 1916 until 15 Jan 1917. They did overlap and knew each other well. Voss flew his famous pair of D.IIIs (yes Virginia, there were two) while with Jasta B and undoubtedly had earlier Albatros types. Greg VanWyngarden is doing a book on Jasta 2/B and may have some more information.

Voss had been with Jasta 2/B all of two days when he scored a double victory on 27 Nov 1916, one of them a British N.17 in the morning and one an F.E.2b in the afternoon. Voss was Jasta B's highest scorer until surpassed by Bolle and Bäumer in late 1918.
