Any info on striped Albatros in old Harleyford book
While looking through the old Harleyford book, Fighter Aircraft of the 1914-1918 War I noticed a small picture showing several Albatros fighters. Page 187 bottom right. The aircraft appear to be OAW DIII's and the one I am most interested in has Black? and white stripes on the fuselage and wing uppersurfaces. Wing stripes run slanted from each wing tip towards the center. Any other pics of this bird out there? Is this a well known Albie that I should be more aware of? Any info appreciated,TIA,
RAGIII

The Windsock datafile special Albatros D.III has a color profile and top view. Shown as red and white on page 30 but caption in back of datafile states that it might have been black and white. Photo on page 52. This Albatros was from Jasta 39. Anyone certain of red versus black or does that open a can or worms?

Thanks for the replies! I really must get that Datafile Special. I have the original DIII and the Albatros Fighters special but not the one mentioned. Any conjecture on undersides of wings?

The Abatros D.III special states either light blue or possibly lozenge. Another one for the experts. Jeez, why didn't those pilots simply buy those cheap disposable cameras with the color film.

Red and white stripe OAW D.III
Berman:
The illustration in the WINDSOCK DATAFILE of the OAW built Alb.D.III is not correct the angle andpitch of the wing stripes are too acute. I feel quite sure the colors are red and white. It may have been Ltn.August Raben's machine.
I believe the photo was taken at San Fior Air Field in Northern Italy.

Jasta 39 markings.
Gentlemen:
The red and whiteof Jasta 39 is collaborated by Die Albatros (Oeffag) Jagdflugzeug der k.u.k. Luftfahrtruppen, page 214, by Peter Schiemer, H. Weishaupt verlag, Graz, 1984, ..... Bei Jagdstaffel 39 waren die D.V rot gestrichen.
