Hello Forum,

Would anyone have info about paint schemes and markings used
on Jasta 35b AlbatrosDVa's?

Thanks, Bwf.

They were using Alb. D.Va and Pfalz D.IIIa types with one or two Roland D.VI a or b types. Stark's own Pfalz D. carried his lilac fuselage band, spinner and little else.

Stark's Pfalz with the liliac markings was in Jasta 34b.

Jasta 35b used a white chevron on the upper wing, at least in 1918. Not sure what else.

Alb.D.V, Pfalz D.IIIa and Rol.D.VIa aircraft.

Bwf:
Jasta 35b aircraft were marked with a broad 400mm wide inverted white ^ on the top surface of the top wing and a 350mm wide black ^ on the under surface of the lower wing panels. (Forward is up.) There were at least 3 Rol.D.VIa aircraft and at least 2 Pfalz D.IIIa aircraft. there were at least 3 Alb.D.V. machines between 7May and 24 August 1918, when Jasta 35b began receiving the Fok.D.VII With the Fok.D.VII the chevrons were narrowed down to 200mm. From 1 September 1918, Jasta 35b had Fok.D.VII and Pfalz D.XII machines. Pilot's ndividual markings were carried on the fuselage just aft of the cockpit in different color bands, some with initials.

The "chevron on the wings" was a Jasta 35 unit marking. Stark continued to use the lilac band there as a personal marking.

Thanks

I'd like to thank all of you for your reply's, sorry I wasn't able to
get back here sooner.
A few more questions:
1. were the fuse's of J35's DV's painted or "clear varnished?
2. what camo scheme(if known) was used on the wings?
3.tail colors, did they(J35) use them?
4.the 'V' on the upper wing, was it an open 'V' or closed?

[+ / \ +] or this [+ /\ +]

I know, it's a crappy " drawing"

Sorry for all the questions, but this web site seems to be the only
one where questions like these get answers.
Thanks again for your help

Regards, Bwf.
P.S. "Green Tail"??...never heard of 'em..

Jasta 35b markings.

Bwf:
I'll try to answer your questions.
1. The fuselages were clear varnish, providing a warm straw yellow color. The Pfalz D.IIIa were painted aluminum.
2. The Pfalz D.IIIa werepainted aluminum. The Rol.D.VIa machines were covered with 4 color printed fabric with 4 color rib tapes. Fuselages were varnished.
3. The empennage of the Pfalz D.IIIa and Rol.D.VIa machines were in standard factory finish.
4. The vees were 500 mm wide on the leading edge of the Pfalz D.IIIa and 700 mm wide on the Rol.D.VIa upper wing The strip of the v was 350mm wide on the Pfalz D.IIIa and 450mm wide on the Rol.D.VIa. The "V" were white on the upper and black on the under surface of the lower wing.
5. On some of the Alb.D.V/D.Va machines the pilots painted the tail surfaces various colors. One was painted green. He was shot down on 18 February 1918. He had a broad green band around the fuselage with a yellow 8 pointed star on the green band on both sides of the fuselage. The pilot was Uffz. Justus Kaiser. Centered on the upper wing in the ^ was a white K. Alb.D.V 4448/17.
