Fokker D1 colours

The photo shows an Albatros D1 at a RFC station at East Boldre, Hampshire, England on Sept 13th 1917. Any help in identifying its colours would be appreciated (I'm assuming the palest colour on the upper and lower nose, spinner, forward cowl, undercarriage and undersurfaces is a pale blue grey colour).

thanks John

John- The aircraft in the photo is actually an Albatros D.II, distinguishable from a D.I by the splayed cabane struts and lower positioned upper wing. The D.I had the upper wing higher and used Albatros C-type trestle cabane struts. You are in luck, though, because one of our markings experts, Dan-San Abbott, has published an article in the Forum on Alb D.II colors and markings.

The Camouflage and Markings of the Albatros D.II Aircraft

See also the aircraft section of the Forum for more details on the D.I and D.II.

Welcome to the Forum and I hope we can provide good information for you. Our model section contains links to several modelers' sites who have done Alb D.IIs in correct colors if you would like to see color images.

The D.I and D.II were introduced virtually simultaneously and the better visibility of the D.II won out and it was produced in much larger numbers than the D.I Eventually the D.II was built by both the Germans and Austro-Hungarians.

Your thread was "Fokker D.I colors"

Levesley:
your thread was titled "Fokker D.I Colors". As originally finished the Fok.DR.I was covered with bleach linen, which is white. With the coats of clear dope and varnish, they were translucent and a yellowish white. Struts and fittings were light grey.
Blue skies,
Dan-San
