Quick question regarding the Albatros W4

A quick question for the experts regarding the Albatros W4...

How late did the Albatros W4 serve? I understand that a few were exported in mid 1918? Did any W4s carry post-April 1918 straight edged crosses? Does anyone have any pics or profiles they could post? Also, what were the floats made of? Wood or perhaps a light alloy?

Cheers in advance,

BC

Alb.W4

Brad:
The floats like the fuselage were made covered with plywood.
I doubt if any Alb.W4 were still in service in mid 1918.
They were superceded by later model Brandenburg (Heinkel) two seater machines. The alb.W4 went into service in September 1916 and lasted to early 1918.
Blue skies,
Dan-San

Photos of Carl Holler in front of an Albatros W.4 show mid-1918 markings on the fuselage.

Thanks Cigogne - any chance of a scan or a reference to where I can find this picture?

Cheers,

BC
