Taz,
Mate, I just noticed something from your postings:

The patches from the rear view of F.I 103/17 rudder,(light shining through in 4 seperate places) matches the patched tail of your recent post of the rudder of F.I 103/17. An almost perfect overlay from one to the other.

Another possible verification for your posting.

BTW when was the rear view of F.I 103/17 photograph taken.

I believe that it was taken on the day/evening of 12 Sept 1917 (after the evening fight with 45 Sqdn.) or shortly thereafter and definately before the evening of 22 Sept 1917. Voss' return to Jasta 10 from his leave.

details...details

Ok now that I'm in the final stages of assembly (no more photos for a while since I will be doing an article for Internet Modeler) I have some questions on detail colors. Of course there may be no clear answer, but based on current knowledge on the f.1/Dr.1, what color would the following pieces be? rudder horns, fuselage lifting handles, step, metal parts on tailskid. Would all of these parts be painted the fokker olive to prevent corrosion? or would control horns be black to match crosses? and would tailskid metall be unpainted steel? well as usual I'd be grateful for any help.
Thanks,
Dave

My Gallery
Fopkker metal parts.

Davecww1:
The Fokker Flugzeugwerke used a light grey to paint all the tubulor frames, fuselage, rudder, ailerons, struts, engine mounting etc. However, with the camouflage, they were probably painted olive-brown and the sky blue as appropriate.
Blue skies,

Hi Dave:

This is a good question. I have look at lots of photos looking at the Items you have listed and I have tried to stay with the the standard factory camo planes. I am finding some tone differences on some of the photos.

Here is the underside of the top wing aileron horn. This look to be the same color as the undercoating -blue.

(Photo from Taz) The top of the horn looks to match the white from the national insignia white field.

Here is the fuselage holders. These look darker then the blue so I don't know it these are black or not. How dose light gray show up in b/w photos?

(Photo from Taz)

The step also looks to be darker like the holders.

The horn on the rudder also look dark on several planes but the horn on the elevator, I have seen some variance between the darker color to a match of the green camo. These are on the Dr.I's (V5's) and I will check the FI. (v4's) to see what I can find.

Lloyd...
