WG Barker's B6313 with 66 Squadron?

Hello all. I am new to theAreodrome Forum, although I have visited this excellent site on numerous occasions, and I am starting off with a question about Barker's Camel. In the Eduard Dual Combo kit, the profile for Barker's 139 Squadron markings mention that there are no known photos available of B6313 during 66 Squadron attachement. So last evening I looked in my copy of Barker VC and there is a picture of Hillborn in the cockpit of what appears to be Barker's Camel (the stylized N and modified intake clearly visible) dated as July 1918. Also visible in this photo is the vertical 66 Squadron marking beside N and ahead of the Roundel, which leads me to believe (given date of photo) that this is the markings for B6313 during 66 Squadron stay. Can anyone shed more light on B6313 while at 66 Squadron? Is there any pictures or verbatim that describes markings of B6313 while at 66?

Graham

Welcome to the Drome! Although I do not have your answer I am certain someone will. I received a private message from you earlier today with this post and I assume it was a glitch in your first post to the Aerodrome forums?

Yes being a newbie I used the private message instead of the forum post. Got it all figured out now...

In the book British Aviation Squadron Markings of World War 1, there is a color profile of the "N" Camel shown in Barker VC. The aircraft is tentatively identified as E1496, which The Camel File lists as being delivered to 66 Squadron on 16 July 1918. Interesting to note, the aircraft was identified from photos in the collection of Mrs. Margaret Hilborn Sawyer, and obtained from Wayne Ralph, the author of Barker VC. It seems that there is some question about the identity of the "N" Camel, however, given that the location of the flight letter is ahead of the vertical bar unlike most 66 Squadron markings, and the aircraft has a small white spinner mounted on the propeller boss, much like Barker's B6313. If you can make any sense of all this, you're a better researcher than I!
