Fokker E.V 157/18

Here is a bit of fun from a new website. Based in New Zealand (do I hear the sounds of four picklehaublets at work? ) Note the interesting personal marking . Like one we have seem from Jasta 10.

Wow! That's neat. Any thoughts on when and where the picture might have been taken? Do the big hangars in the background suggest a large Allied center after war's end?

My guess is that it is not an operational aircraft. Note the droop in both ailerons. The method of rigging the D VIII ailerons will not allow this when rigged for flight.

Yeah, I've had a good scan of this retouched photo from Colin Owers for some time. The E.V displays the Saxon coat-of-arms. However, I hope that nobody jumps to the conclusion that this was a Jasta 10 aicraft just because Paul Aue of that Staffel was photographed with a similarly marked D.VII. In fact, Alex Imrie tells me that that photo of Aue actually shows him (and the aircraft) in a post-war Freikorps unit, not Jasta 10. Even though the D.VII displays early type Balkenkreuz insignia, it makes sense.

I'm very sure this E.V was photographed in Allied hands after the war, and I don't know what its German unit was, or its pilot. Still, a neat insignia.

Fok.E.V 157/18, and Jasta 6.

Gentlemen:
Fok.E.V 157/18 was assigned to Jasta 6 in early August 1918. Ay which time it had a white lighning bolt painted on each side of the fuselage and the black and white petal design on the engine cowl. This must be the resurrected E.V/D.VIII 157/18 with a new wing in late October -November 1918, maybe Apres la guerre. The ailerons have not connected.
Blue skies,
Dan-San

E.v

The photograph came from a British report on the type. Only two pages unfortunately, one of photograpphs. I am sure it was taken post-war.

It looks like they recovered the horizontal tail section previous to this image.
