Gotha GL VII

Hello Dan San,

Here are 3 photos of the aircraft. There appears to be a feathered mottle applied to the fuselage over the existing darker original shade.

Was this a standard IGAS Dark Green? Or was it the very late war Dark Brownish Green seen on late Fokker and Junkers machines?

I am leaning towards the late war colours, but I will concede the 5 Color Dark Pattern Lozenge seen on the flying surfaces.

I just tried to upload the pictures and the forum's limit is way too small for these shots. You need to see these at a full screen size of at least 14 in.

I've attached them anyway so you know what I'm talking about.

Your thoughts,

Derry

My Gallery
Brownish green??

Derry:
What brownish green on what Fokkers and Junkers machines?
I don't know of any Fokker painted brownish Green. The Junker D.I and Ju.J.I were painted pale mossy greenand lilac, with blushis white undersides. The Ju.J.I and J.II were mossy green and purple.
This is why I asked your data source on the brownish green. I did not know where this was from.
The three photos are of a Go.G.VII acquired by the the Ukrainian Air Force after the war. The wings appear to be dark four color pattern on the top surface and the light pattern on the fabric under surfaces. The fuselage appears to be spray painted in four colors aranged randomly. I would guess the colors are the same as the four color in the upper printed four color pattern. This Go.G.VII was probably built by LVG, inasmauch as they completed their order of thirty Go.G.VII(LVG)200/18 to 229/18.
I am familiar with this Go.G.IX(LVG) 236/18. It appears to be covered with day color fabric, I can't see any dark polygons, which leads me to believe it may be covered with the light lower printed fabric. The irregular hexagons on the fuselage are four colors which appear to be also bottom colors. The darker hexagon on the side of the fusemaybe the greyish red on the four color lower pattern.
The Go.G.IX(LVG)236/18 is in light blue.
Blue skies,
Dan-San
