Another question on Hippert's Mimmi D.VII

Another couple of questions on the blue painted areas of Hippert's checkerboard D.VII. On the Aeromaster decal sheet they give 4 standard 5 pointed black stars to apply to each wheel cover. But on DSA's drawing they are called Latin crosses, and two appear to be * while the other 2 are +. Anyone have a good photo showing these wheel covers in detail? which are correct markings? Also would the forward radiator on the D.VII be overpainted the same blue as the cowl or would it be left the aluminum color to provide better cooling?
That's all for now...
Dave

Mimmi!

Dave:
I did the original drawing which was published in an article Over The Front. I have two lblack latin crosses and two six point stars, which I got of a close up of a second photo. As I said in a previous post, all the copies of my drawing have the markings on the outside wheel wrong.
still smokey skies,

Thanks Dan, that's what I figured but did not have a photo to back it up. Do you know if it was common practice to paint the front radiator the cowl color or to leave the cooling surface the silver color? Not sure on that one though. I may just leave it blue and give it a black wash to show the screen as if it was overpainted blue.
Thanks,
Dave
PS - how close are you to the fires? Hope your house is not in danger of the path of the fire, smoke will always blow away (sooner or later) unlike the ashes of what was once a nice house and collection...Best wishes for a safe outcome on the west coast!

Californis forest fires.

Dave:
The fires are not close, nor is there any danger. It is, that there are so many, the skies are over cast with smoke. When you go ouyside, you can smell the smoke. I prefer to walk outside, at present, I cannot, 1 the smoke is a health hazard and 2. It is too hot. Last week we had a heat wave, it was 108º one and the next was 110º. The day before the 108º our air conditioner died. The day it was 110º, I went to bed at 12:30, it was 93º! It was four days before we got our new A/C. It was a very bad situation for me., with my heart situation. Iwent into the hospital Thursday to have an angiogram and an angioplasty. I had a stent that was blocked by artery tissue. I am home now and I feel great. In a few weeks, I'll be back to shape..
Smokey skies,
